About this role
Managing the Fruit and Vegetable department at Makro Myanmar means overseeing one of the most visually prominent and operationally demanding sections of the wholesale store. Fresh produce has short shelf lives, high customer expectations, and significant waste risk if not managed properly. This role operates across Mingalar Taung Nyunt and Insein, ensuring that restaurant owners, caterers, and retailers find the fresh ingredients they need in the right condition and quantity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage daily receiving of fresh produce, inspecting quality, ripeness, and compliance with order specifications
- Display products attractively while maintaining proper temperature and humidity conditions
- Execute strict stock rotation to minimize spoilage and track waste for reporting
- Coordinate with procurement on seasonal availability, pricing changes, and supplier performance
- Train and supervise department staff on handling procedures, food safety, and customer service
- Respond to wholesale customer requests for special orders, bulk pricing, and availability forecasts
Requirements:
- Experience in fresh produce management, fruit and vegetable retail, or food service procurement
- Strong knowledge of seasonal produce, ripening stages, and appropriate storage conditions for different categories
- Leadership skills to supervise a team in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment
- Understanding of food safety standards applicable to fresh fruit and vegetable handling
- Problem-solving ability to manage supply fluctuations and quality issues with minimal customer impact
