How to spot a fake job offer in Myanmar
Short answer
A job offer is a warning sign if someone asks you to pay first, will not name a real company and address, pushes you to decide today, or asks for your ID card, passport or bank details before an interview. A real employer does not need your money to hire you.
Warning signs
- They ask you to pay. "Registration fee", "training fee", "uniform deposit", "processing fee" before you start. Stop and ask why.
- No real company. No company name, no office address, or only a Facebook or Telegram account with no history.
- Pay that sounds too good. Very high salary for little experience, with no clear job duties.
- Pressure. "Only today", "last 2 places", "send money now to keep your seat".
- Your documents first. They want a photo of your NRC, passport or bank card before any interview.
- Job changes after you agree. The job, place or salary is different from what was posted.
- Overseas jobs with no paperwork. No written contract and no licensed agency named.
What to do before you say yes
- Ask for the company name, address and a phone number. Look the company up yourself.
- Ask for the job duties, salary and working hours in writing.
- If an agency is involved, ask for its Ministry of Labour recruitment licence number.
- Do not send money, and do not send ID photos to someone you have not met through a real hiring process.
- Talk to someone you trust before you decide. A friend who works in that field can tell you if the offer sounds normal.
